You choose the size that fits your needs. I would be honored to make a quilt using some of their clothing/shirts to keep their memory alive and close to you. These are cherished items that carry precious memories and will be treated with the dignity and care they deserve.
Are you wanting a special memory gift for yourself, another family member, or friend who has experienced the loss of a loved one? Cherished photos can be added for an additional cost.
Photos would sent to me by email, the articles of clothing would be mailed separately.
If you would like the remnants of the clothing returned, please let me know in advance, it will be additional postage to include with the completed quilt.
**PLEASE NOTE*** the terms 5x7, 5x8, 6x8, 7x9, and 8x10 are a reference to the number of rows across and number of rows down not the number of feet wide or long. approximate sizes are listed in inches**
*** number of items needed is based on size Men‘s L/XL long sleeved shirts... If the clothing to be used is smaller, more pieces will be needed. ***
37"x52" (5x7) = 5-6 shirts
37"x60" (5x8)= 6-7 shirts
45"x52" (6x7) 7 shirts
45"x60" (6x8)= 7-8 shirts
52"x67" (7x9) =9-10 shirts
60"x75" (8X10 ) = 14-15shirts
Photos are $8 per photo
Size of the individual squares is starting size of 9.75 inches with .5/8 inch fringe
Backs are made with your choice of color in either flannel or cotton
Sizes are approximate inches and number of shirts needed for each quilt are APPROXIMATE depending on size of clothing. Contact me for custom sizes other than the ones listed. The number of shirts listed is based on Large/XL size men‘s shirts.
Fabrics that provide the best results are woven cotton (button down type shirts, flannel shirts, jeans, etc.)
Fabrics that can be used but results are not as good, tee shirts, polo shirts, polyester, knit fabrics, stretchy fabrics.
Fabrics that should not be used or cannot be used are sweat pants, sweat shirts, fleece jackets, hats, gloves, pot holders, oven mitts etc. They are too thick to sew through multiple layers,
***PLEASE NOTE** it is normal for new rag quilts to shed loose threads for the first 3-4 wash and dry cycles. Finished quilts are washed and dried once to get the largest part of lose threads and start the ragging process.
Turn time can take 5-6 weeks once all items are received to construct the quilt, depending on the number of orders in process. Many times, I‘m able to complete them in less time. If multiple quilts are needed the time to complete will take longer.
